Patience and Persistance
Today I have 1 week into my Keto journey. I think I have done exceptionally well. I haven't lost much weight (pretty much just ounces) - but I "feel" better already. I have learned that it is a FACT that carbs bog me down. I week into Keto and I don't have the carb crashes, my craving are gone and I feel more mentally focused.
My struggle right now is getting to the gym. I REALLY want to go (I am paying $40.00/mo.). I feel that going to the gym will not only make me feel even better, it will push the # on the scale down.
I went a little over a week ago and a few days later, I hurt my foot. My foot is finally starting to feel better so I really need to get back. My struggle comes from WHEN to go. I feel like after work the gym will be packed and I am too exhausted to commit to a great workout. I feel like the best option for me is to go before work. My struggle with that is getting out of bed. It is too easy to hit the snooze button and go back to sleep. It is something I just need to figure out.
I was pretty proud of myself yesterday. This young co-worker of mine asked me, "Lori are you still on your diet?" She wanted to order out for lunch and for whatever reason hates doing it alone. I said "Yes...and it's not a diet - it's a lifestyle." It turned out that she was craving cake...she wanted to get a cake and wanted ME to help her eat it. Luckily she wanted vanilla cake and I don't like vanilla cake so it made it pretty easy to say no and stay there. She really VERY persistent….but so was I in standing my ground.
I feel like that is the hardest part about doing the Ketogenic lifestyle. Trying to make others understand that first of all "it's not cool" to try to get someone to fall from their diet. 2nd of all, the Keto diet requires patience (and I SO lack patience) and when the weight is not coming off...it can be frustrating to say the least - especially when you feel like you are doing everything right! But you just have to Keto On.
